Set in the Anjou Bleu region of Haut Anjou, Chris and Charles Appleton welcome you to Le Manoir de la Vieille Douve, a 4 bedroomed chambres d’hôtes in the medieval village of Le Bourg d’Ire. Dating from the 1400’s, the Manoir was used as the home of the D’Armaillé family before they built the nearby Chateau la Douve. It was then used as a hunting lodge, farm and family home.
The Manoir was completely renovated and refurbished in 2014 to a high standard, followed by the renovation of the 2 barns into a swimming pool/dining room and 3 Gites. It’s also set in 7 hectares of grounds with 3 well stocked lakes.
Set north of the Loire Valley, which is a World Heritage Site, the region is full of Châteaux and vineyards which produce some of the country’s most recognised wines. You can either stay and explore the region or stopover on your travels. For business travellers, Le Manoir de la Vieille Douve is 10 minutes from Segré which lies on the Rennes to Angers and Laval to Nantes axis. If you are travelling on holiday we are 3 hours from Caen, 1 hour 45 minutes from St-Malo or Dinard airport and approximately 4 hours from Bordeaux.
